Cooking & meal preparation
Food is a huge part of daily life, health, and independence. But knowing what to cook, how to prepare it safely, and managing a grocery budget can be challenging. At OdysseyCare, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy making their own meals.
Our Geelong and Melbourne teams provide hands-on cooking and meal preparation support. We help you build the confidence to navigate the kitchen, plan nutritious meals, and enjoy the process of cooking for yourself or your family.

We don't just cook for you—we cook with you. Whether your goal is to make a simple piece of toast safely or to prep a whole week's worth of family dinners, we tailor our support to your current skills, physical abilities, and dietary needs.

- Building practical, everyday kitchen skills at your own pace.
- Learning how to safely use kitchen appliances and adaptive utensils.
- Understanding nutrition, portion sizes, and healthy eating habits.
- Planning meals and writing effective grocery shopping lists.
- Managing food budgets and navigating the supermarket with confidence.

Why choose OdysseyCare
OdysseyCare wasn't born in a boardroom. Leah, our founder, is a mum to four kids—one of whom is an NDIS participant. She got tired of generic, unfeeling services and built the company she spent years wishing she could find to give folks real, reliable support.
Families and participants stick with us because:
- We focus on what you actually like to eat, not rigid, boring diets.
- We provide trauma-informed support, respecting sensory aversions to certain foods or textures.
- We go at your pace—from basic microwave meals to full dinners.
- We can help source adaptive kitchen tools if mobility or dexterity is a challenge.
- Consistent, high-standard coverage across Geelong and Melbourne.
Frequently asked questions
We usually assist you in planning and shopping for your own ingredients as part of the capacity-building process, but we can help arrange grocery deliveries if navigating the supermarket is a barrier for you.
We completely understand. Our support workers are trauma-informed and respect sensory aversions to textures, smells, or tastes. We focus on finding meals that you actually enjoy and feel comfortable eating.
If your NDIS plan includes Core Supports for daily living, we can absolutely assist by preparing meals for you. However, if your goal is capacity building, our aim is to cook alongside you to build your independence over time.
NDIS funded support
Wondering about funding? These supports usually tap into your NDIS budget depending on your goals.
Typically, these programs fall under:
- Capacity Building: Improved Daily Living (for skill development and learning to cook).
- Core Supports: Assistance with Daily Life (for direct help with meal preparation and cooking).
If looking at your plan gives you a headache, don't stress. The team can sort out the service agreements and show you exactly how to make your funding work for your independent living goals.
